Choosing an aluminium window is not simply a decision about frame colour or opening style. The right selection starts with how the room will be used, the size and position of the opening, exposure to wind and rain, ventilation needs, cleaning access, safety, and the surrounding wall construction.

Define the design conditions

Record the opening dimensions, sill height, direction of operation, indoor and outdoor exposure, and any accessibility or fall-protection requirement. Sliding, casement, awning, fixed, and other configurations manage air, water, sightlines, screens, and maintenance differently. A system that suits one elevation may not suit another.

Review the complete assembly

Frame geometry works together with glass, gaskets, sealants, hardware, drainage, reinforcement, and perimeter interfaces. Ask how glass thickness and edge clearances are selected, how water leaves the sill, how hardware can be adjusted or replaced, and how the frame connects to flashings and wall control layers. Confirm finishes using approved samples under representative light.

Verify before ordering

Do not infer a performance value from appearance, brand, or a generic product name. Project requirements should be matched to suitable technical documentation, engineering, testing, and approved shop drawings. Mock-ups or first-off units can help the team review operation, interfaces, finish, and buildability before quantity production.

Plan installation and care

Surveyed openings, appropriate supports and fixings, compatible seals, open drainage paths, careful handling, and final adjustment all affect the installed result. Request cleaning, operation, maintenance, and warranty information at handover. A clear, documented comparison is more useful than selecting a window from one isolated feature.
