Aluminium Systems Workshop: From Design to Installation

This practical starter workshop follows an aluminium opening from the first design question through fabrication, installation, inspection, and handover. It gives architects, interior designers, consultants, contractors, fabricators, installers, and client representatives a shared framework for discussing requirements before a live project specification is approved.

What the session covers

The programme begins with use, opening size, exposure, accessibility, ventilation, safety, cleaning, and maintenance. Participants then review how profile geometry, glass, gaskets, hardware, drainage, finishes, fixings, tolerances, and perimeter interfaces work as one assembly. Guided examples show why a system name or visual reference is not enough: each application still needs coordinated drawings, current technical information, suitable calculations or tests, and an agreed approval path.

From workshop drawing to site condition

A facilitated exercise traces the information needed by the system team, fabricator, installer, and adjacent trades. The group considers surveyed openings, supports, flashing and membrane continuity, sealant preparation, protection, safe handling, first-off checks, nonconformance records, and final operation. Participants can use the exercise to prepare questions for their own design and delivery meetings.
